Love and obey, or betray and crucify: What is your decision? by Janet Lakey

LUKE Chapter 22: 1-13

1: Now the feast of unleavened bread drew nigh, which is called the Passover.

2: And the chief priests and scribes sought how they might kill him; for they feared the people.

When we plan to do things that are against God's law, and things that are against the law of the land, we become afraid. We are afraid we will be caught, afraid of what the people will do or say, we feel fear. The world calls it a guilty conscience, a premonition. The fact is, it is God speaking to us. The Holy Spirit counsels us and guides us. When we still listen, we will hear God speaking to our spirits and we know that what we are planning is wrong. The chief priests and scribes knew that murder is a sin, whether or not they also knew in their hearts that Jesus was and is who He said He is has not been clearly told to us. But they knew what they were planning was morally and spiritually wrong, and they were afraid of the people.

3: Then entered Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve.

4: And he went his way, and communed with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray him unto them.

5: And they were glad, and covenanted to give him money.

6: And he promised, and sought opportunity to betray him unto them in the absence of the multitude.

Then entered Satan into Judas ------------

When we forget to pray, forget to put on the whole armor of God, satan can find our weak spots and tempt us to to ungodly things, such as, lie - cheat - steal - do as the world does until the world can no longer see any difference in us.

And he went his way, and communed with the chief priests and captains how he might betray him unto them.

We often go our way, thinking we are doing God's will, and we associate with, communicate with people of like mind, planning things that are against God's will. And when we do this, we are planning how we might betray Him and deliver Him into satan's hands. We are to watch and pray always, without ceasing so we do not betray Jesus.

And they were glad, and covenanted to give him money.

When we step out of God's will, people who are not of God, who are of the world always rejoice, are always very happy to see God's children slip and fall. When we fall into temptation, we are telling the world we approve of what they are doing, and that we enjoy doing these things also. This is what Jesus calls putting on the old coat, the old ways, forgetting that we are bought with a price. We are crucifying Christ all over again.

And he promised, and sought opportunity to betray him unto them in the absence of the multitude.

Devious things are always done in darkness, in lonely places away from crowds. And yes it does take planning. But man's plans always come to nothing. Everything done in darkness always comes to light. Yes, Judas carried out his plan, he found a way, but only because it was Jesus time and Jesus allowed it. But even though the plan was carried out in secret, the whole world knew and does still know what Judas did. And we know what happened to Judas because of his plan and what he purposed in his heart.

7: Then came the day of unleavened bread, when the passover must be killed.

The day of unleavened bread, when the passover (lamb) must be killed.

The blood of he lamb must be spilled and put on the doorposts of our hearts. That day is now! We need to be covered with the blood of Jesus, our passover lamb.

8-13 These verses tells us that Jesus sent out two apostles with specific instructions on where and how to prepare the passover. Jesus also told them the room would be furnished, and they found everything just as Jesus had said it would be, and when they found the room, they prepared the passover. THEY HEARD THE INSTRUCTIONS, THEN THEY OBEYED!!! How often do we hear, but decide that it is not God speaking to us? We justify our thoughts by asking over and over again, is this you Lord, or is this my thoughts? God tells us we will know our masters voice. He also tells us we are to have the mind of Christ. So if we have the mind of Christ, we do know our masters voice and his thoughts are our thoughts. So why are we wasting time asking these questions? Is it because we are looking for a different answer? Is it because we do not want to obey even though we say that we do? Do we really mean what we say? God knows the answer but we have to search our souls and face what we already know.
